William Forstchen
WILLIAM R. FORSTCHEN, PH.D., is a professor of history at
Montreat College in Montreat, North Carolina. He received
his doctorate from Purdue University and specialized in the
American Civil War. He is the author of more than forty
books, including the award-winning We Look Like Men of War,
a young-adult novel about an African-American regiment that
fought at the Battle of the Crater; it is based upon his
doctoral dissertation and was published by St. Martin’s
Press. Dr. Fortschen has been a lifelong reenactor of the
Civil War. He resides near Asheville, North Carolina, with
his wife, Sharon, and daughter, Meghan.
