Kerry Orchard

I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada where I still live with my husband, two children, and remaining cat - Ginger. (Carmanah-passed December 2002 - 12yrs, Oreo - 2003 - 6. Bandit 2003 - 9). I had an interesting life growing up and working at the racetrack and riding. I have also done much volunteering for animal causes and in schools over the years as well as worked at different part time jobs, giving me many ideas for my characters and worlds. I began writing to beat the isolation of staying home and to cope with a chronic illness. Fantasy is my first love. Poetry affords me an opportunity to express myself.

Fantasy is wonderful because the author controls everything from the laws of the world to the character's behaviour. It is escapism at its best.I love to create strange and fascinating worlds filled with magic, evil, self-discovery, treachery and love. I enjoy mixing science and fantasy -- reality and the surreal. It is a great joy to be able to share my worlds with others. I am currently at work on my third fantasy, as well as a Canadian driven murder mystery, another genre I enjoy. It is my greatest hope that you will read and enjoy my first published novel and my poetry. The Augur's Voice will be out in July 2003!
