Jan Hudson
Jan Hudson, a native Texan, after stints in both Houston and the piney woods of East Texas, has settled in Austin, the state's capital. As an only child, she's still married to the man (an only child) she met on a blind date when she was an undergrad student. Her only son, after a brief career
as a rock drummer, is an award winning writer and creative director with an advertising agency and has produced a brilliant and gorgeous grandson.
Over the past ten years, Jan's books have routinely appeared on romance best seller lists and have been translated into many foreign languages. Winner of both the RITA and the Golden Heart awards from the Romance Writers of America as well as several other national and regional honors, she writes the kind of fast-paced stories she likes to read: those laced with humor, fantasy, and adventure, with bold characters who reach beyond the mundane and celebrate life. Her understanding of people and their motivations isn't surprising since she's also Dr. Janece Oliver Hudson, formerly a licensed psychologist (non-practicing) and a college psychology teacher. She has conducted a number of seminars, appeared on radio and TV, and is a popular lecturer on a variety of subjects. Besides being a crackerjack hypnotist, she's considered an expert on dreams.
Although writing leaves little time for hobbies, in her spare moments away from the computer, she likes to read, learn about the stock market with her local investment club, spend time with family and friends, travel, work cross-word puzzles, and think about exercising or cleaning closets. She is a blue ribbon flower arranger, a mediocre bridge player, and a lousy shot. Her most memorable experience was a long anticipted trip to Egypt--riding a camel to the Sphinx, climbing the Great Pyramid, and sailing down the Nile. Her favorite food is fudge. With pecans.
