Justin D Hill

Justin D Hill

Justin D. Hill is the creator of Minka Lesk and author of the Warhammer 40,000 novels Cadia Stands, Cadian Honour, Traitor Rock, Shadow of the Eighth, Hell’s Last and Pilgrims of Fire. His other Black Library fiction ranges from Necromunda’s underhives in Terminal Overkill to The Bookkeeper’s Skull and the battlefields of the Space Marines.

He has been part of the Warhammer hobby most of his life. He bought his first White Dwarf at ten, became a long-time Imperial Guard player, and has accumulated armies and rather more unpainted plastic than is probably reasonable.

As Justin Hill, he has spent much of his writing career telling stories about people caught in the collapse of worlds. He has written about the fall of Cadia, England on the eve of the Norman Conquest, the upheavals of modern China and the aftermath of war in Eritrea.

His books have won the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize, Somerset Maugham Award and Betty Trask Award, been chosen as Books of the Year by The Sunday Times, The Times and The Washington Post, and been translated into seventeen languages. His first novel, The Drink and Dream Teahouse, was banned in China.

He lives in North Yorkshire, close to the battlefield of Stamford Bridge, and still paints and plays Warhammer.
