Jen Zhao

Jen Zhao

Jen Zhao is a Canadian audiobook narrator, director, performer, screenwriter, and filmmaker based in Los Angeles. She creates autofictional works that explore identity, genre, and the experience of making art itself, and has been exploring performance through clowning, drag, mask, and voice. She is a Sloan Foundation Film Fellowship recipient and a member of the BAFTA Connect Program. Jen received her MFA in Screenwriting from UCLA. Her most recent short film, Finding Nathan Fielder (With Jen Zhao), premiered at the 2024 FascinAsian Film Festival, where it won the Audience Choice Award.

Jen has released work with The Center for Research in Engineering, Media and Performance (REMAP), Penguin Random House, Spotify, and Cosmic Soup Productions, and is a board member of the Canadian Academy of Mask and Puppetry (CAMP).
