Piper grew up in rural New Hampshire, the daughter of an accountant and a teacher, with a younger sister, a horse, three cats, and a dog named Curly who carried logs from the woodpile into the house on cold winter nights so the humans didn't have to. She started acting at the age of six and studied extensively in her living room with teachers like Lily Tomlin, Betty Buckley, and the movie Beaches.
Now, Piper is an actress, director, and audiobook narrator. As a narrator, she has recorded works by Meg Cabot, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Alison Bechdel, R.L Stine, and John Irving, as well as classics by L.M Montgomery and Thornton Wilder. She has narrated for major publishers including Audible Studios, Audible Theater, Harper, Macmillan, Simon & Schuster, Spotify, Penguin Random House, Blackstone, and Tantor. A four-time Audie Award Finalist, one-time winner, two-time SOVAS Award nominee, and three-time Earphones Award winner, Piper's narration has also been featured in Kirkus, YALSA, and Booklist.
She has directed audiobooks read by Kathryn Grody, Amandla Stenberg, Art Garfunkel, among others, and was nominated for a SOVAS Award for Best Director for her work on The Iliad, performed by Audra McDonald.
As an actress, Piper has performed Off-Broadway and in regional theaters across the country, London and Canada, and earned a Drama League Award Nomination for originating the role of Anne in Anne of Green Gables.
