Ian Jenkins

Ian Jenkins

Ian started writing in the fifth grade. Medical school and internal medicine residency put the brakes on writing for a while, but he achieved work-life balance by resuming writing and falling in love with not one, but two wonderful men. His Throuple with Alan and Jeremy became the first poly family recognized as the legal parents of a child on birth certificates (of their exceptional children, Piper and Parker). Ian recorded the adventure in his first book, Three Dads and a Baby: Adventures in Modern Parenting, which made the news on five continents. He is a hospital doctor and Professor of Medicine at UC San Diego, a patient safety specialist, and a medical malpractice consultant. Outside of work, he makes excellent dinners, tells uncomfortably bad dad jokes, and writes decent memoirs and fiction with diverse characters and magic of various kinds, in which love still conquers all.
