Jonathan Bockian
Jonathan Bockian was inspired to write What Was Forbidden, his debut novel, when he happened on the memorial to Mordechai Baldosa while visiting the Scola Canton synagogue in Venice. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where he largely avoided schooling until the fourth grade and then attended orthodox Jewish day schools. He is a graduate of New York University and Harvard Law School. He left his first professional position after law school, at a state government economic opportunity agency, to be a stay-at-home father. He later became a practicing real estate attorney and published the Preservation Law Digest blog. He has served on the board of The Boston Home and the Mosesian Center for the Arts, and on local government committees. He was an avid cyclist until he fractured his pelvis and C-7 vertebrae. He and his wife live in Massachusetts.
