Mike Cobb
Who am I? As a kid growing up in Atlanta, I was part nerd, part class disruptor. My teachers couldn’t figure me out. Nor could my family. Nor could I. In a sense, I still can’t, something I wear as a badge of honor.
As far back as I can remember, I have always had a passion for writing. When I was thirteen, I got in big trouble for creating what I thought was great prose [it wasn’t], but my teacher and principal deemed it too risqué for adolescent consumption and summarily raked me over the coals. That, and the experience of my sixth-grade teacher washing my mouth out with Octagon soap, left me scarred forever. But I soldiered on!
I can thank my wife Caren for keeping my adult backside out of trouble. Immersing myself in writing helps. We split our time between midtown Atlanta and Blue Ridge, Georgia. The balance between city life and mountain life inspires my writing. We have two daughters and four granddaughters.
Why am I here? I am here because my passion for writing is abiding and lifelong. Writing, for me, is bliss, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share it with others.
Why historical fiction with a wicked twist? I love history and research almost as much as I love writing. Having spent much of my career as a scientist, I get the research part honestly. And as for the wicked part, my focus on crime came about as the result of the cold-case execution-style murder of a friend when I was seventeen. I’m working on that story.
