Cynthia Timoti

Cynthia Timoti is a bilingual, fourth-generation Indonesian-Chinese who was born in Jakarta, came to Australia to study when she was 17, and liked Tim Tams so much that she decided to never leave the country.

Her love of reading started early thanks to Enid Blyton, and it continues to this day, because her TBR pile seems to mysteriously grow at an alarmingly fast rate. She can never resist a good rom-com, lives in her Converse, and collects too many cute notebooks that she never uses.

Cynthia graduated from The University of Melbourne with a Commerce degree and spent too many years working in finance, an experience she gleefully exploits as the bane of her characters' existence. She was a SmoochPit mentee in the 2022 cohort, and currently lives in Melbourne with her non-reader husband and their two sons, who are both almost as tall as her.
