Lynette Kent
Lynnette Kent has wanted to write books for about as long
as she's been reading them. The question of exactly what
kind of book to write was answered when her husband
suggested she write what she loved to read...romance. With
his encouragement, she opened her head - and heart -to the
characters in her stories and found a whole new world of
friends she loves to share with readers.
Her approach to a writing career has been indirect. An
undergraduate biology degree led to a job as a research
assistant for three years, then two years teaching school -
physics, physical science, and anatomy. Finally returning
to her first love, Lynnette received a Master's degree in
European History from the College of William and Mary. Her
research training comes in handy when she starts a new book.
After twenty years of Navy travels, Lynnette and her
family - a husband and two daughters - have settled in
south eastern North Carolina. The true rulers of the
household, are Dooley and Schultz, miniature dachshunds who
needed a home when their original "parents" got a divorce.
Their bark is about ten times the size you'd expect of such
tiny dogs.
When she's not writing or driving the girls around,
Lynnette plays bassoon with the local symphony, gives
bassoon lessons, directs a children's choir, and leads a
Girl Scout troop. The new millenium will bring the
additional challenge of helping a daughter choose a
college, and then letting her go. (Thank goodness there
will still be one at home!)
Lynnette would rather mow the lawn than clean house - she's
building a flower garden with an emphasis on irises, her
favorite flower. In addition to romance, she reads
mysteries, fantasy, and historical fiction, and would love
to try her hand at writing each.
For now, she's delighted to be writing for Superromance,
creating stories of love and laughter, tragedy and triumph,
all wrapped up in a satisfying happy ending. In fact, the
happy ending is the best part - life doesn't always work
out the way we wish, but in these books, we get a chance to
live as if it will. Lynnette loves to hear from readers. You can send an e-mail
