Thomas Olde Heuvelt

Thomas Olde Heuvelt

Thomas Olde Heuvelt is an international bestselling author and made his worldwide breakthrough in 2016 with his horror novel HEX. In 2015, he was the first Dutch author to win the prestigious American Hugo Award. His books are published in more than twenty-five countries. "Totally, brilliantly original," Stephen King tweeted about HEX. The Guardian wrote about the widely acclaimed Echo, about a possessed mountain village in Switzerland: "With moments of wonder as well as terror, Echo possibly contains the most frightening opening scene ever written." The rights to Orakel, for which Neil Gaiman granted permission for his god Nunyunnini (American Gods) to make an appearance, have been sold worldwide.

His most recent book, November, gives the classic Faustian pact a modern twist. November won the prize for best book cover of the year and Vrij Nederland rated the book with five stars. A quote: "Olde Heuvelt surpasses itself with this contemporary, gripping and super-exciting story, in which the underworld is an exponent of the human spirit. The central theme – how far contemporary man goes in pursuing and protecting his own luxury existence – is palpable in every pore of this book. It is impressive how the human sacrifices that the Bird Street residents have to make bring the issue of euthanasia to a head. Without the judgment being explicit, and purely through the temptation of reading and horror pleasure, this touches on the moral foundation of the reader."

Olde Heuvelt lives and writes in the South of France.
