Arianne Shahvisi

Arianne Shahvisi is a Kurdish-British writer, academic philosopher, and professor of ethics at the Brighton and Sussex Medical School, where she teaches courses in moral philosophy, feminist bioethics, gender studies, global health ethics, social determinants of health, and the philosophy of mind. She has written for The London Review of BooksThe Economist, and The Guardian, among others; was a judge for the 2019 PEN Literary Science Writing Award; is a co-founder and member of the editorial board for the bilingual Arabic-English feminist journal Kohl; and works as an ethics consultant for Doctors Without Borders. She holds degrees in astrophysics and philosophy from Oxford and Cambridge.
