Paz Pardo

Paz Pardo is a playwright and a novelist. She received her MFA from the Michener Center for Writers in 2018. Her writing has appeared in The Brooklyn Review, Encountering Ensemble, The I Scream Social Anthology: Volume 1, and Howlround Theater Commons. The Shamshine Blind is her first novel.

Her plays include YOU/EMMA (Wandering Bark Theatre Co), which won the 2018 NYIT Award for best solo performance; CIERTAS ASTILLAS/CERTAIN SHARDS (Featured reading, Crossing Borders Festival 2021; O'Neill National Playwrights Conference Semifinalist 2022); Milton, MI (LTC Carnaval reading 2018, Bay Area Playwrights Festival Finalist 2016, O’Neill National Playwrights Conference semifinalist 2019); Movimiento Perpetuo/Perpetual Motion, which she has performed in 11 cities in three countries; Duct Tape Girl and Fetish Chick Conquer the World (produced by BootStrap Theater Foundation in New York City in 2014); and RubberMatch (produced by RED CARAVAN in NYC in 2015).

She and Enrique Lozano are the Grande/Bravo translation team, which has translated Kirk Lynn’s Fixing King John from English to Spanish and Fabio Rubiano’s Fly from Spanish to English. She worked as a dramaturg with 600 Highwaymen, Enrique Lozano, and Rachel Chavkin’s company the TEAM.

She’s been an invited speaker at the Universidad Nacional and the Universidad del Valle in Colombia. She received a Fulbright Award in 2012 to study the use of psychoanalysis in Argentine theater. As an undergraduate at Stanford, she received the 2009 Eleanor Prosser Award for Theater Scholarship while majoring in Drama and earning a minor in Computer Science.
