W. David Marx

W. David Marx is a writer based in Tokyo, Japan. His first book was "Ametora: How Japan Saved American Style" (Basic Books, 2015) — a cultural history of Japanese menswear. His latest book is "Status and Culture," about how the individual desire for social status explains most cultural phenomenon. Marx's work has also appeared in The New Republic, Vox, and Popeye.
