My first novel, RIGHT BACK WHERE WE STARTED FROM, is forthcoming from Blackstone Publishing in May 2021.
My nonfiction has been in The New York Times, The Atlantic, NPR, The Washington Post, Ploughshares, Alta, The Poetry Foundation, Smithsonian, The Los Angeles Review of Books, Longreads, and many others. My essays “Bohemian Tragedy” and “The First and Last Lives of Jack London” were notables in The Best American Essays 2019 and 2020, respectively.
My fiction has appeared in Tin House, The Guardian, Hotel Amerika, Alaska Quarterly Review, The Maine Review, Raritan, The LA Review, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, Monkeybicycle, Necessary Fiction, Superstition Review, and others. “Sleep Disturbance,” originally published in The Forge Literary Magazine, was included in The Best Small Fictions 2019.
I’m a recipient of the 2019 Discovered Awards for Emerging Literary and Visual Artists, produced by Creative Sonoma and funded by grants from Community Foundation Sonoma County and the National Endowment for the Arts. Other awards and residencies include Speculative Literature Foundation, Wildacres Residency Program, Cuttyhunk Island Writers’ Residency, Tin House Writers’ Workshop, and Hypatia-in-the-Woods.
