Carla de Guzman (@carlakdeguzman) is a romance author from the Philippines, writing Filipino characters, set anywhere. She has been published both locally via Anvil Publishing and internationally with Harlequin, but still considers self publishing her home. Her books are explorations of her favorite places, food and coffee spots, which is great since she runs Magdamag Market Cafe with her siblings in Quezon City.

Her book, Sweet on You, has recently been adapted into a movie in Canada by Citadel Media and Harlequin, set for release in 2025.

Aside from writing books, she also designs book covers, has appeared on talks and panels as a romance writer and reader, creates hand lettering titles and has written articles for Esquire, Spot.ph, When in Manila and Philstar Life. She also recently represented the Philippines and Philippine Romance at the 2023 Frankfurt Buchmesse as a delegate. She also recently worked on the English translation for the online webcomic Duty Ka Ba?

She is a part of #romanceclass, an online community of writers, readers and creators of Filipino romance in English, and will always say yes to a café invite.
