April Elizabeth Brock

As a teenager, April Elizabeth Brock plucked her first romance novel (The Gamble by LaVyrle Spencer) from her grandmother's bookshelf. Her grandmother was scandalized, but it was too late. She was hooked. She went to a very pretty college and managed to land a sweet honors project her senior year: writing a romance novel. When her alma mater created a Master's degree in writing romance novels, she made sure she was part of the inaugural class. Despite convening in a blizzard, her first workshop was so awesome that she knew instantly the writing life was for her. Throughout a career in teaching high school students the literary classics, she has written stories that you'd never find in a literature anthology. (Too many happy endings!) April is firmly convinced that the romance is the real story in any novel. Any novel without romance just isn't worth reading. Her heroines are sassy, smart, fun, and flawed. She's a sucker for the underdog, too, and her heroines' love interests are just as likely to be unexpected heroes as they are to be alpha males. When she's not spending her free time at her son's baseball games or dragging her husband on long walks, you'll find her with her nose in a novel. A romance, of course!
