Beverly Breton
I spent the first five years of my life in a Chicago suburb. Astute listeners can still pick up an occasional mid-western twang. By elementary school, I was a Jersey girl. One of my earliest memories is sitting at my white desk writing in my teal faux-leather diary. Didn't take me long before I decided to go public--I became publisher, writer, and artist for a hand-written neighborhood newsletter. Junior high found me collaborating with a friend on a knock-knock joke book, much of the material original, or at least we thought so. I worked at a florist during high school in Maryland, and fell in love with plants and floral design. By graduation, I had a also written a self-published children's book and published my first article in a local newspaper. I studied English at Dickinson College for two years. Reading books and talking and writing about them was about as natural as breathing so I decided to expand my horizons, and return to plants and flowers. Two and a half years later I graduated with a BA in English and a BS in Horticulture from Penn State.
