Claudia Gabel

Claudia Gabel

Claudia Gabel was born in Roanoke, Virginia and raised in Binghamton, New York— carousel capital of the world, and home to the spiedie sandwich. She began writing poems and short stories when she was in kindergarten. By the time she was in seventh grade, she had written three full-length novels in the pages of her favorite Mead 5-subject notebooks and one unicorn Trapper Keeper. She was co-editor of Seton Catholic Central High School’s quarterly newspaper The Sentinel, and read everything under the sun while studying Literature and Rhetoric at Binghamton University. After graduating from Hofstra University with her Master’s degree in English and American Literature, she got her first job in publishing as an editorial assistant. While pursuing a career as a book editor and helping other writers get published, Claudia always hoped that she’d see one of her own novels on bookstore shelves. In June 2007, her hopes turned into reality! Claudia’s teen fiction series, In or Out, was published by Scholastic/Point. Currently, she is a Senior Editor with Katherine Tegen Books, and her new novel—Romeo and Juliet and Vampires—is due out in August 2010. Claudia lives in New York City, and enjoys hearing from fans!
