John Brantingham

John Brantingham

John Brantingham is a writer and a professor at Mt. San Antonio College. His work has been published in hundreds of magazines in the United States and United Kingdom. He has also been featured on Garrison Keillor’s Writer’s Almanac and other radio programs, and his poem “Home Techtonics” was used for the Regents Exam in 2012 taken by all college-bound New York high school students. His chapbooks include Putting in a Window (Finishing Line Press), The Mediterranean Garden (Finishing Line Press), Heroes for Today (Pudding House Press), and Study Abroad (Wormwood Press). His books include The Gift of Form (Oak Tree Press), East of Los Angeles (Anaphora Press), Mann of War (Oak Tree Press), Let Us All Pray Now to Our Own Strange Gods (World Parade Books), The Green of Sunset (Moon Tide Press), and an unnamed anthology of Los Angeles writers from Red Hen Press forthcoming in 2014 or 2015.

He is one of the directors of the San Gabriel Valley Literary Festival, and he helps to organize the creative writing programs at Mt. San Antonio College. He runs two blogs, John Brantingham (Johnbrantingham.blogspot.com) and Exercising While Reading Rex Stout (stoutfan.blogspot.com) and he is a regular contributor to Venture Galleries (http://venturegalleries.com/) and Novel Spaces (novelspaces.com). He was one of two fiction editors for the magazine The Chiron Review, and he is currently the fiction editor for Spout Hill Press. He has taught for the Northwestern Institute for the Literary Arts’s low-residence MFA program, and he lives in Seal Beach with his wife Annie and his dog, Archie.
