Liesl Schillinger
Liesl Schillinger is a journalist, critic, translator and moderator based in New York. She grew up in college towns in Indiana and Oklahoma, studied Comparative Literature at Yale, and worked at The New Yorker Magazine for more than a decade, latterly as theater and dance editor in Goings On About Town. Her articles and columns have appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times (where she has been a Regular Contributor to the Book Review since 2004), The New Republic, The Washington Post, Newsweek/Daily Beast, Vogue, New York Magazine, The London Independent on Sunday, and many other publications. Her most recent translation, “The Lady of the Camellias,” by Alexandre Dumas, fils (Penguin Classics), appears in June, 2013. Her book of neologisms, Wordbirds (Simon & Schuster), illustrated by Elizabeth Zechel, comes out in Oct. 2013.
