Caela Carter
Caela grew up in love with words. During her childhood in Baltimore, Maryland and Basking Ridge, New Jersey, you could always find her curled up on the couch or sneaking a flashlight under her covers to read more pages from Ann M. Martin, Gary Paulsen, Judy Blume, or Cynthia Voight, and later Amy Tan or Wally Lamb or Toni Morrison. If she wasn't reading, she was passionately discussing literature with anyone who would listen or scribbling the beginnings of novels furiously into notebooks she would later lose (if it weren’t for computers, she'd never be able to finish a book without losing it first). She studied literature, philosophy, and creative writing at Notre Dame and earned a Master's in Education there as well. She spent six years teaching before realizing that, although she loved the kids more than she knew possible, she would rather be writing for them than reading with them. That lead Caela to The New School in New York where she is currently working on her MFA in Writing for Children with some truly inspiring classmates. Her debut novel, ME, HIM, THEM, AND IT will be published in 2013 along with a second untitled novel in 2014, by Bloomsbury press. She is represented by Kate McKean.
