Born in Trinidad, Rosa Guy is the author of fifteen novels, including Bird at My Window, The Friends, and A Measure of Time. She is co-founder of both the Harlem Writer’s Guild and the Black Arts Movement. Guy has received the Coretta Scott King Award, The New York Times Outstanding Book of the Year citation, and the American Library Association’s Best Book Award. Ms. Guy lived in New York City. Ms. Guy died in 2012
