GREGORY MURPHY lives in New York. His first play, The Countess, was the longest-running drama on-or-off Broadway in the 1999-2000 season. The Countess has since been produced throughout the United States, in Europe, Asia and in London’s West End at the Criterion Theatre. Mr. Murphy has written a screenplay based on The Countess. Negotiations are underway for a major motion picture starring Emma Thompson and Orlando Bloom. Mr. Murphy is currently working on his second novel, Maisie Villiers, for which he has written an original screenplay His first novel, INCOGNITO, set in New York City and Long Island circa 1911 was sold to Berkley Books and will be published in July 2011. His second play, Household Words, is based on Charles Dickens’s relationship with his two daughters at the time of the breakup of his marriage.
