Henry E. Scott

Henry E. Scott

Henry E. Scott is managing director of Gansevoort Media, a media product development group whose focus is creating demographically targeted products for Internet companies and magazine and newspaper publishers. Henry has been at the forefront of innovation in the newspaper industry. In 2003 he helped Metro International S.A., the London-based originator of the free daily newspaper concept, launch its youth-oriented New York City edition. Henry served as managing director and publisher of Metro New York and group publisher, US, for Metro until June 2005. As vice president for new media/new products, Henry launched The New York Times Company’s first online venture in 1994 with @times, a site on America Online. Henry also developed and managed The Times’s first foreign-language edition, The News in Review, published in Russian from Moscow. Henry was the member of The Times Company’s senior management charged with developing an electronic media strategy for the company. Henry also has extensive experience as a magazine consultant and publisher. In 1996 Gansevoort Media took over operations of Out magazine, the nation’s quality gay and lesbian monthly, and in three years tripled Out’s revenues and brought the magazine to profitability. Gansevoort’s principals also have been involved in launching Spanish-language titles and in launching youth-oriented newspapers in Asia and Europe. Henry has worked as a reporter and editor for Knight-Ridder (now McClatchy) and Times Mirror (now Tribune) newspapers and as head of research and planning at The New York Times.
