Elizabeth Zelvin

Elizabeth Zelvin is a New York City psychotherapist whose mysteries feature recovering alcoholic Bruce Kohler. Death Will Extend Your Vacation is the latest in the series, following Death Will Get You Sober and Death Will Help You Leave Him. Liz is a three-time Agatha Award nominee and a Derringer Award nominee for Best Short Story. Her stories have appeared in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine and various anthologies and e-zines. Outrageous Older Woman, her CD of original songs, was released in 2012. A magna cum laude graduate of Brandeis University, she spent two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in CΓ΄te d'Ivoire, West Africa. On her return, she worked as an editor, while her poems appeared in numerous journals and in two books, I Am the Daughter and Gifts and Secrets: Poems of the Therapeutic Relationship. In 1983, she received a CAPS award for poetry from the New York State Council on the Arts. After returning to school for a master's degree in social work, Liz directed alcoholism treatment programs, maintained a private practice as a psychotherapist, and wrote and lectured widely on addictions, codependency, dysfunctional families, and relationships. In 2001, she launched her online therapy website at LZcybershrink.com. She works with clients all over the world via chat and email and trains therapists in online clinical skills. Her articles have appeared in professional journals in both the US and the UK, and she has contributed to a groundbreaking textbook on online counseling and a bestselling professional book on clinical work with substance abusers. Liz blogs on Poe's Deadly Daughters and SleuthSayers and can be found on Facebook. Her music website is at lizzelvin.com. She has served on the boards of the New York chapters of Mystery Writers of America and Sisters in Crime and remains active in both as well as Sisters in Crime's Guppies chapter.
