Alex O'Meara

Alex O’Meara is the author of Chasing Medical Miracles: The Promise and Perils of Clinical Trials (Walker Books 2009). He is a freelance journalist who has worked for the City News Bureau of Chicago, Newsday, the Baltimore Sun in Washington, D.C., an NBC affiliate in Tucson, Arizona, and many other media organizations. Diagnosed with type-1 diabetes more than thirty years ago, he has completed several marathons. In an effort to cure his diabetes, he participated in a risky and groundbreaking clinical trial to receive a transplant of islet cells from several cadaver pancreases. This is his first book. He lives in Bisbee, Arizona.
