Carl Sferrazza Anthony

Carl Sferrazza Anthony

Considered the nation's expert on the political and social power of presidential wives and families, Carl Sferrazza Anthony is the author of a dozen books. His storytelling style presents historical figures as human beings, in the context of social, political and pop culture. The books range from comprehensive histories to individual biographies. He's written over one-hundred fifty articles in publications including The New York Times, Newsweek, American Heritage and Vanity Fair.

He has conducted Oval Office interviews with Bill and Hillary Clinton and George and Laura Bush, as well as Nixon, Jerry and Betty Ford and others. He worked as a George Magazine editor and his boss there, John Kennedy, Jr., helped facilitate Anthony's As We Remember Her, a uniquely personal study of Jackie Kennedy Onassis, focused on her literary and political skills.

He has also written speeches for Nancy Reagan and the introduction to one of Hillary Clinton's books. He has worked for the White House Preservation Fund and the Smithsonian Institution, and served as guest curator of exhibits at the Nixon Presidential Library. He is consulting historian to and a board member of the National First Ladies Library. He was the host and moderator of C-Span's 1994 "Evening With the First Ladies" in which he conducted on-stage interviews with Hillary Clinton, Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush and Rosalynn Carter before a live audience.  He appears as a frequent commentator on all the networks and major cable stations, and has often been seen on Larry King Live.

He continues to write and publish books and is now writing feature film scripts as well.
