Pete Evans
Chef, restaurateur, television presenter and fisherman Peter Evans is certainly a versatile man!
Born in Melbourne and raised on the Gold Coast, one of the reasons cooking first appealed to Pete was the lure of surfing all day and working at night.
After opening his first restaurant, The Pantry, in Melbourneβs bay side suburb of Brighton in 1993, Pete moved to Sydney in 1996 and established his second restaurant Hugoβs, in Bondi followed by Hugoβs Lounge in Kings Cross in 2000 and then Hugoβs Bar Pizza in 2004. Peteβs restaurants have gone on to win numerous awards including the recent βBest Pizza in the Worldβ in late 2005.
Pete can be seen regularly on the rocks or the beach with a fishing rod in hand β his love of all things fish is reflected by his culinary prowess in the kitchen. In this new series, he showcases some wonderful recipes cooked in the most remote of places and proves that you donβt need a commercial kitchen to create great dishes with the freshest produce. As Pete says, βThe food Iβm cooking in FISH is as far from restaurant style food that you can get. Itβs what I cook at home and when away on fishing holidays.β
Along with his brand new series, FISH, Peteβs work with The LifeStyle Channel and LifeStyle FOOD includes over 60 episodes of Home and a one-hour behind-the-scenes documentary, Cooking For Our Princess Mary.
Pete loves diving, surfing and skiing (snow and water) and regularly travels up and down the coast in search of waves. He also enjoys getting away from it all to do some trout fishing in the mountains. Peter lives in Sydney with his partner Astrid.
