Shannon Cain

Shannon Cain is the co-editor, with Lisa Bowden, of Powder: Writing by Women in the Ranks, from Vietnam to Iraq. (Kore Press, 2008). She is the recipient of a 2006 creative writing fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, a 2008 O. Henry Prize and a 2009 Pushcart Prize. She earned her MFA in 2005 from the Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College and now teaches fiction writing at the Gotham Writer’s Workshop. Before coming to Kore Press in 2004, she worked for a decade as a chief executive in the nonprofit sector. Currently she is the Director of Sales and Marketing for Kore Press and also the fiction editor, because in independent publishing that’s the way things get done.
