David W. Moore is a senior fellow with the Carsey Institute at the University of new Hampshire. He is a former Vice President of the Gallup Organization and Managing Editor of the Gallup Poll, where he worked from 1993 until 2006. Prior to joining Gallup, he was a Professor of Political Science at the University of New Hampshire, where he taught from 1972 to 1993. He was also founder and Director of the University of New Hampshire Survey Center. Previously, he served in the U.S. Army for ten years, after graduating from the United States Military Academy in 1962. His overseas tours of duty included South Korea and Vietnam.

He has served two terms on the governing council of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR), the foremost organization of public opinion pollsters in the country. He is author of The Opinion Makers: An Insider Exposes the Truth Behind the Polls (Beacon Press, 2008), How to Steal An Election: The Inside Story of How George Bush’s Brother and Fox Network Miscalled the 2000 Election and Changed the Course of History (Nation Books, 2006), and The Superpollsters: How They Measure and Manipulate Public Opinion in America (Four Walls Eight Windows, 1992; revised trade paperback edition, 1995). He has also published numerous articles in academic journals, newspapers, books, and magazines, including Public Opinion Quarterly, the New York Times, Foreign Policy, the American Political Science Review, the Journal of Politics, The Nation, Public Perspective, and the Boston Globe. He lives in Durham, New Hampshire.
