Joe Moscheo

Joe's biography starts in Albany, New York, USA, where he was born on August 11, 1937. His parents came from the old country, Italy. They settled with their parents in upper New York State. Joe is named after his dad, Joseph Anthony Moscheo, who worked for the government, and later in life became a preacher of the Gospel. He was a marvelous, self taught violinist. His mother, Margaret, was a great mother and housewife. They had three children, Mary Lou, John and Joe.

In 1960 Joe quit college to go on the road as a member of the gospel quartet, The Harmoneers. He was with them for less then a year, when he got a call to join another gospel group, The Prophets. In the fall of 1964 Joe joined The Imperials as a singer, keyboard player and arranger. They worked with Elvis Presley, Jimmy Dean, Roy Clark, Carol Channing, Pat Boone and many others.

In 1978, Joe joined Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), a performing rights society. He served the company as Vice President of Special Projects. After a 16-year stint at BMI, Joe formed his own management company, working with such notable recording artists as BeBe & CeCe Winans, Michael English, Wynonna and Naomi Judd, among others.

In June 1996 Joe joined the staff at First Union Bank, to launch its Entertainment / Music division.

In 1998, The Imperials reunited to participate in 'Elvis The Concert', the stage show that featured Presley's voice and likeness on a large video screen, accompanied by musicians who once performed on stage with the singer.

Joe recently coordinated and co-produced He Touched Me: The Gospel Music Of Elvis Presley, which aired on PBS and is currently available on DVD. He continues to travel, doing Elvis reunion dates, and working with Elvis fan clubs throughout the world.

Joe has written several gospel songs that were recorded by different gospel groups. He has received many different awards by different organizations like NARAS, GMA, Grammy Awards and Dove Awards. Joe was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1998.

Joe retired from First Union National Bank in 2003 and now serves as Music Industry Consultant to MCS America, Inc., a publishing administration company, representing over 650 clients worldwide. He oversees the U.S. operations of this London-based company. In 2004, he was made President of MCS America, and now heads up their Nashville operation.

Joe was a member of the founding council of Leadership Music. He has also served as a past president and trustee of the Board of Governors for the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS). He was also a board member (and past president) of the W.O. Smith / Nashville Community Music School. He serves as a permanent board member of the GMA Board of Directors.

Joe's hobbies include golf, art history, painting, tennis and travelling to his family home place in Sicily.
