Eric Carle
Eric Carle is known the world over for his beautiful picture books for very young children, with their simple and entertaining yet educationally sound stories and their distinctive collage illustrations. Born in Syracuse, New York, he moved with his parents to Germany, where he studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Stuttgart. On returning to the United States, he worked for a time as a graphic designer for The New York Times, and then for a large advertising agency.
