Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev
Ivan Turgenev (1818-83) was noted for his poetic realism
and skill at characterization. His greatest novel,
Fathers and Sons was badly received in Russia, but a
particular success in England. He also wrote poetry, plays,
short stories, and tales of the supernatural. His other
works include the play A Month in the Country, and
A Nest of Gentlefolk.
