Ira M. Sacker, M.D. is the President and Medical Director of the HEED Foundation, Inc.(Helping End Eating Disorders), a not for profit organization dedicated to the education, prevention and treatment of eating disorders. Dr. Ira Sacker is internationally known for his pioneering work in the field of eating disorders. He is the co-author of the best selling book Dying To Be Thin (Warner Books), which chronicles patients efforts to understand and defeat Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. He has been sought out by numerous network and local television programs as well as the print media for his expertise. He has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, 48 Hours, Good Morning America and CNN and has been interviewed by magazines such as People, Glamour, Seventeen and Redbook. His published works have appeared in many prestigious medical and professional journals. Dr. Ira Sacker was named as one on the "Best Doctors in New York" by New York Magazine and received "Top Doctor" honors from the Castle Connelly Guide of the New York Metro Area. Currently, Dr. Sacker has offices in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Long Island.
