Lynne Cheney
Lynne Cheney has long advocated teaching America's history
to children. "They deserve to hear the inspiring stories of
our country's founding," she says. "They should hear the
tales of all those who have come since and made us a freer
and better country." Mrs. Cheney is the author of many
books, including the best-selling A is for Abigail: An
Almanac of Amazing American Women and America: A
Patriotic Primer, about which Time for Kids
magazine said, "You may have learned your ABCs in
kindergarten, but Lynne Cheney will teach you the alphabet
in a whole new way." Mrs. Cheney holds a Ph.D. from the
University of Wisconsin, is a former chair of the National
Endowment for the Humanities, and is a senior fellow at the
American Enterprise Institute. Mrs. Cheney is married to Vice President Dick Cheney, and
they have two daughters and three granddaughters.
