Romance Paranormal | Fantasy

ALCHEMIST OF THE 10TH REALM is magical! In this fantasy tome, readers get to meet up with Sophie and Logan who are being hailed heroes after the defeat of the evil Guild of the Golden Rose (think of the Nazi party of Germany and this group is their equal). If you didn't read The Stone of the Tenth Realm, where Sophie Katz (now McLeod) and Logan MacLeod first met in the Tenth Realm after her harrowing escape into this parallel dimension, do not worry this book is a stand alone. You will get enough backstory to put you right into the spirit of everything. But ... you really will want to get your hands on that book too, because it's really a good read.

She is being honored with the Philosopher's Stone while Logan prepares for their immigration to the Newlands. It is during this brief separation that a survivor of the Guild war who wants Sophie and her powers as a fire sorceress emerges. With the help of a traitor with what seems a simple lockets he traps her to do his bidding then kidnaps her. Logan uses every power he has to search for his wife, and by the time it is all said and done they end up with a ship and crew, skinwalkers, an apprentice wizard, a young sorceress and men who had been under a spell to not only rescue her but to again fight evil and greed.

There is a lot of action in this book from battles with pirates, a three-headed dog and strange skeleton men with the ability to steal souls. In Eva Gordon's books, there is a lot of emotion, amazing dialogue and of course the happy ending. Even Ash, the apprentice wizard meets his match in a young woman named Briarwood and in the end begins courting her. It was also a nice touch that whenever Logan became too agitated, his Scottish accent becomes thicker and his "r's" roll more. It was also a nice touch to remind readers of Sophie being from a different realm when she compares things to her old world; travel mode is one one of them she mentions a number of times.

If you like fantasy, action, werewolves, magicians, and sorcerers who band together to fight evil, with just the right doses of love in the air, then ALCHEMIST OF THE 10TH REALM is a perfect read.

SUMMARY

Heroes of the War against the Guild of the Golden Rose, Sophie and Logan risk leaving the comfort and safety of Skye to colonize the dangerous untamed territories of the Newlands, a continent that parallels America, but one of magic. Before they can embark on their new life, Sophie is trapped by a necromancer's weapon. Under its spell, she is shanghaied on a ship heading for the Newlands where the Guild of the Golden Rose plans its resurrection as the Norvis Ordi. Desperate to rescue his wife, Logan crosses the perilous ocean and joins forces with a young wizard and native skinwalkers to battle the dark forces that trapped Sophie. Can the Newlands be saved from necromancy or will darkness once again resurface, enslaving all?
