Brigid works for the FBI while she loves her job, she knows
it's time to retire. Just when she thinks her life is
taking on a new meaning, she gets a call from one of her old
partners, Laura who wants Brigid to help her with a cold
case. Brigid is on her way to Florida to help her mother
with her dad as once again he is in the hospital.
The case that Laura wants Brigid to help her with involves
Marcus Creighton. Marcus is accused of killing his wife and
three children. Marcus still claims he is innocent. Brigid
doesn't feel that Marcus is innocent, but Laura along with
a lawyer feel that he was set up. Marcus was having an
affair with Shayna. Marcus's alibi was that he was with her
at the time of the murders. At first, Shayna agrees, but
later during the trial, she claims she was not with him.
Since Marcus had no other witnesses, everything pointed to
him, and he is convicted.
Laura and Brigid are doing everything they can to try and
find new evidence. But they are constantly hitting a brick
wall. Alison works for a group called the Haven which deals
with missing and exploited children and she has a strong
interest in this case. Laura and Brigid have no idea why she
would want anything to do with this case since the children
were murdered. So who is really twisting the knife into
Marcus? Are they going to able to save him before he is
executed?
A TWIST OF THE KNIFE by Becky Masterman is fantastic. With
all the twists in this book, it was hard to figure out who
done it. But that is what makes a great mystery. If I can't
figure it out, I know I have to keep reading. Not sure if
Becky was or is an attorney but from the way she writes, I
believe she is.
Becky takes you behind what a detective has to go through to
find the guilty person. The more I read, the more I just
couldn't put this book down. So if you like a book that you
can sink your teeth in, this is the one to get. It will
keep you guessing.
Ex-FBI agent Brigid Quinn, now happily settled in Tucson,
doesn’t visit her family in Florida much. But her former
partner on the force, Laura Coleman—a woman whose life she
has saved and who has saved her life in turn—is living there
now. So when Laura calls about a case that is not going
well, Brigid doesn’t hesitate to get on a plane.
On leave from the Bureau, Laura has been volunteering for a
legal group trying to prove the innocence of a man who is on
death row for killing his family. Laura is firmly convinced
that he didn’t do it, while Brigid isn’t so sure—but the
date for his execution is coming up so quickly that they’ll
have to act fast to find any evidence that may absolve him
before it’s too late…
A Twist of the Knife, Edgar Award and CWA Gold Dagger
finalist Becky Masterman’s third Brigid Quinn novel, is the
masterful follow-up to Fear the Darkness and Rage
Against the Dying.
