Mystery Cozy

Clytemnestra "Clyde" Fortune is focused on her last minute training to run in the Zombie Apocalypse Fun Run when she gets some unexpected news. Her sister, Grace, is returning to Crystal Haven and Clyde suspects it is more than just a casual visit. After all, Grace hasn't been back to visit Crystal Haven in more than fifteen years, opting instead to send her two children on regular visits without her. In fact, her son, Seth, is currently living with Clyde. Unfortunately, Clyde's nagging suspicions prove to be accurate after a murder leaves Grace as a likely suspect. Can Clyde and her boyfriend, Mac, solve the case before Grace is accused?

AN UNHAPPY MEDIUM is the fourth book in A Family Fortune Mystery series and oh boy do I ever want to read the earlier books to see what other mishaps Clyde has had to endure! Dawn Eastman does a great job at providing enough of an overview for new readers (like me) so that the storyline can be fully appreciated. However, I can't wait to go back and read the earlier books as Clyde's family is definitely a bit wacky but full of love and warmth.

I love the various magical abilities of the Fortune family as we learn a little bit about each of their talents. While Grace's talent is obviously the more financially lucrative, I have to admit that it is Seth's talent that intrigues me the most. I hope Dawn Eastman explores his ability in future books as the possibilities are definitely intriguing.

AN UNHAPPY MEDIUM is a delightful cozy mystery filled with quirky characters! Dawn Eastman utilizes the paranormal aspects in clever and entertaining ways as I couldn't help but laugh at some of the shenanigans. If you like your cozy mysteries tinged with the paranormal, don't hesitate to give AN UNHAPPY MEDIUM a try.

SUMMARY

Psychic Clyde Fortune and her zany family are back in the fourth in the national bestselling series from the author of A Fright to the Death. Former cop and novice psychic Clyde Fortune finds herself in a race for justice when a Zombie Fun Run turns deadly... All of Crystal Haven, Michigan, is psyching up to participate in a Zombie Fun Run organized by Clyde’s nephew Seth, but Clyde is fretful about the undead festivities. For one thing, her sister, Grace, has unexpectedly returned to town after fifteen years. For another, Clyde has the nagging feeling that something is about to go wrong... When one of the zombie runners is found murdered and then Grace disappears, Clyde realizes her grim premonition is dead-on. Now, she and her police detective boyfriend Mac must find a ghoulish murderer before someone points the finger at Grace. And when a tangled web of family secrets and old grudges combines with a mysterious case of stolen diamonds, even someone as quick-witted as Clyde might not be able to outrun a killer...
