Thriller

Criminal behavior psychologist Robert Hunter is the lead detective for the Ultra Violent Crimes Unit, a special division created by the LAPD to investigate vicious homicides/serial homicides where extreme brutality is involved. Robert is the best at what he does and continually declines offers made by the FBI to join their ranks. However, the latest case the FBI is handling requires Robert's expertise, especially since the strange suspect, Lucian Folter, insists he will speak to no one but Robert Hunter. If the FBI wants Lucian to identify his many victims from the past 25 years, it will be on his terms.

Robert is shocked when he learns the sadistic murderer is an acquaintance from his past. A master of extreme self- control and discipline, Lucian is one of the most intelligent people Robert has ever known. And after a series of interviews with the depraved serial killer, Robert realizes he has never encountered a psychopath quite like Lucian, who is manipulating the investigation in astonishing ways. But are Lucian's claims believable? And how far will the FBI go to appease him in their search for the truth and all the unidentified victims of his depravity?

AN EVIL MIND by Chris Carter is one of the most chilling psychological thrillers I've had the pleasure to read. It grabs you from the very start and never lets up as each turn of the page brings even more bizarre and shocking elements to the plot. Characterization is sophisticated and compelling in a meticulously developed narrative of good-vs-evil. And the conclusion is nothing less than electrifying. I am hooked on Chris Carter and will be looking for more of his novels to read.

SUMMARY

From a Top 10 Sunday Times (UK) bestselling author comes an action-packed thriller featuring Robert Hunter, a criminal behavior psychologist turned LAPD detective, who must race to identify the most brutal, clever, and elusive serial killer yet…

A freak accident in rural Wyoming leads the sheriff’s department to arrest a man for a possible double homicide, but further investigations suggest a much more horrifying discovery—a serial killer who has been kidnapping, torturing, and mutilating victims all over the United States for at least twenty-five years.

The suspect claims he is a pawn in a huge labyrinth of lies and deception—but can he be believed?

The case is immediately handed over to the FBI, but this time they’re forced to ask for outside help. Ex-criminal behavior psychologist and lead detective with the Ultra Violent Crime Unit of the LAPD Robert Hunter is asked to run a series of interviews with the apprehended man.

These interviews begin to reveal terrifying secrets that no one could have foreseen, including the real identity of a killer so elusive that no one, not even the FBI, had any idea he existed—until now...
