Sage Reece finds herself in the middle of a dilemma. She is in love with her boss, the suave, debonair Parker Anderson, but she is also in love with and dating bad boy cop Dean Ryker. These guys have a past and Ryker isn't beyond PLAYING DIRTY to win in this fight.

Having been told by Parker that they don't have a chance, Sage has tried to move on but her feelings and the past come back with a vengeance. Ryker is a cop who has done some undercover work. Now the bad guy is free and knows he isn't dead, and finds out that Sage means something to Ryker. So he has effectively drawn the bad to her door.

Parker steps forward to protect her, but he has a past too and that is about to hit the fan. These two men's uncomfortable past makes working together almost impossible, but their love for this one woman is all that is helping them.

PLAYING DIRTY is filled with everything that will keep a reader reading -- action, two sexy but very different men, bad guys galore, and a heroine with a big problem. This book should have had two strikes against it for me. It's a love triangle (I didn't know this author is famous for her triangles) and a cliffhanger, but I was simply compelled to keep reading. I liked and disliked Parker, Sage and Ryker along the way but I still couldn't wait to find out what happened next. I believe it was author Tiffany Snow's writing style that had me until the end. There seems to be an energy infused into the words that just pull you along. There are secrets and some heartache along the way, sometimes due to simple misunderstanding. I especially found interesting the truth (or is it?) about her father.

PLAYING DIRTY is book two of Ms. Snow's Risky Business series but if you, like me, did not read the first one (POWER PLAY) there is enough background information to get you up to speed quickly. Looks like I will be going back to get book 1 and waiting anxiously for book 3.

SUMMARY

DOWN AND DIRTY Faced with a choice between bad-boy detective Dean Ryker and sexy power player Parker Anderson, Sage Reece fought the law--and the law won. But while Ryker's sizzling touch may rule her nights, Sage's days belong to Parker's cool, calculating intensity. . . . Both Ryker and Parker are determined to protect Sage from a brutal enemy who'd use her to pay for their mistakes. Yet when the usually on-point Ryker is distracted by ghosts from his past, Parker seizes his opportunity to get Sage's attention--and keep it in ways beyond her wildest dreams. Now, caught between a mobster out for revenge and two men who were once best friends, Sage must play to win--even if it means getting dirty. . . .
