Mystery Woman Sleuth | Mystery

In 13 STOLEN GIRLS, the new novel in the Layla Remington Mystery series, author Gil Reavill did an outstanding job with keeping the suspense. With many surprises, you will be taken into another world of the rich and famous. This latest novel about a missing young star from more than 10 years ago will show you a side of Hollywood stars that even Layla finds not only disturbing but also common, at least in this fiction.

Layla Remington is investigating more than one missing girl case after she accidentally stumbles across a barrel found during an earthquake that holds the remains of Tarin Mistry. Tarin was a young actress who disappeared more than a decade ago and now her body is found, making this the most famous find in years. Even though two other detectives who think of Layla as a joke and take her off the case, Layla still cannot let this mystery go. Then she makes connections between this case and another recent missing girl that she was requested by the mother to handle. Things from there get creepy as Tarin's killer is still on the loose and with the clues adding up to point to some very powerful people. But are clues misleading? Will Layla catch the murder before it is too late without costing her own job?

If you love Gil Reavill's novels then you will not be disappointed in this one. 13 STOLEN GIRLS has a great ending with a lot of "wow" moments for me. I love suspense that has me thinking the whole way through. It is fast paced, but covers a lot of information so you are never wondering what just happened. This will be one of my favorite suspense for this year!

SUMMARY

Perfect for fans of Michael Connelly or Nevada Barr, Gil Reavill’s gripping new Layla Remington thriller plunges readers beneath the glittering façade of Hollywood and into a terrifying underworld where beautiful women can just . . . disappear. Malibu is crumbling. A monster earthquake has just ripped apart some of the priciest real estate on the planet. In a bizarre twist, it has also unearthed a grim secret buried for years beneath one particularly unstable hilltop: a steel barrel containing the mummified remains of Tarin Mistry, the beautiful starlet who went missing more than a decade ago. When Detective Investigator Layla Remington looks into that wretched metal coffin, she realizes she’s just landed the case of a lifetime. But before Layla even strips off her latex gloves, a pair of hotshot LAPD detectives arrive on the scene and remove her from the investigation. Undeterred, she pursues her own line of inquiry. Risking her badge and her life, Layla’s determination to track down Tarin’s murderer takes her from the rarified air of exclusive canyon communities to seedy downtown sex clubs and the secluded lair of one of Hollywood’s most powerful men. But while Tarin’s case may be cold, her killer is poised to strike again—and in Layla, this depraved sociopath may have just found fresh prey.
