Suspense

Dr. Johnny McDonald and Sarah Phoenix have been married three years and live in Johnny's dream home on Sitka Lane in Shadow Cove, Washington. Sitka Lane is comprised of a group of quaint houses, identical in design, but completely different in decoration in a town most only dream about. Sarah writes children's books based on her Miracle Mouse mysteries and Johnny has a thriving dermatology clinic and admired by all women. Sarah's favorite thing gracing the wall in her studio is the painting of Miracle Mouse made and given to her by her Nana.

Next-door neighbors Monique Kimball and her husband Chad, return early from a trip with their 4-year-old daughter Mia. Johnny is out of town for business when Sarah awakes to smoke and flames engulfing the Kimball house, which inevitably also takes hers. Saving the screaming Mia in the upstairs bedroom is the only thing on Sarah's mind as she pushes her own fear aside. With Monique and Chad perishing in the fire, it isn't long until it becomes apparent it was arson, as were other fires in the community. With each bit of information they learn, the more confused Sarah becomes as evidence of infidelity points to her dream husband. Using her own curiosity to spur her forward, Sarah finds herself embroiled in deceit and begins to question everything she thought was true about everyone and everything, including her marriage.

THE GOOD NEIGHBOR is jam packed with suspense, mystery and tragedy. A.J. Banner has a very vivid imagination and creates psychological suspense and thrilling novels. My fingers were busy turning pages to see what shoe would drop next. Just when you think you have it figured out who did what, another twist comes along to turn your assumptions upside down. This is the first I have had the pleasure of reading by A.J. Banner but found this novel so breathtaking and suspenseful, I will definitely keep searching out her future and past tales. She is a genius at giving us something unique and highly entertaining.
