WHITE KNIGHT is book three in KELLY MEADE'S Cornerstone
Run
Trilogy. It focuses on Knight, the third brother of
the
McQueen family, and his newly discovered mate, Shay.
Meade
is an author known for delivering dark tales, and White
Knight provides that darkness in abundance. As are the
preceding two books, this finale book is very character
driven, with deftly delivered devastation hitting so many
times.
Knight's father was the alpha of the Cornerstone Run until
he was recently killed by evil vampire-werewolf triplets-
hybrids created by the mystical Magi who escaped to wreak
havoc. These triplets have vowed to wipe out humanity and
the wolves. Knight's older brother Bishop is a common
grey
wolf, but he has stepped up to become the next alpha.
Knight's other brother Rook is a black wolf who acts as an
enforcer for his alpha. But poor Knight is a rare white
wolf, who is responsible for taking the emotions of the
whole pack and calming them so they don't turn feral and
lose themselves. Knight has always felt hemmed in and
trapped by his role in his run, and Meade makes us truly
feel his anguish and weariness. Knight was taken and
tortured by the psychotic half breed triplets, and his
personal post traumatic issues on top of the apocalypse
his
run is experiencing are truly heart wrenching.
Shay gets a full dose of drawn out personal anguish as
well.
Meade doesn't spare any of her characters, that's for
sure!
Shay has been kidnapped by the hybrid triplets, and near
crippled by being held in her human form in isolation.
Shay
is very admirable, standing up for her beliefs and showing
such greatness of heart in the midst of her torments.
Having watched Shay and Knight, two wounded souls, creep
towards helping each other heal in books one and two, it
is
deeply satisfying to see them become a solid couple in
this
final book.
White Knight showcases Shay and Knight's romance, but all
the brothers and their mates are major players in book
three.
This book relies heavily on the prior two stories, and
should
be read in order. I find Meade's WHITE KNIGHT to be a
tension-filled and very satisfying urban fantasy with
strong
romantic elements.

Checkmate…
Despite a month of peace from hybrid attacks, the constant
threat of violence has the loup garou on edge. Knight
McQueen’s home feels like a military compound and his
people
have become battle-weary soldiers. And Knight’s tenuous
grip
on his own self-control has been further damaged by the
disappearance of the only woman whose touch brings him
peace.
Held prisoner by her hybrid half-sisters and forced to
care
for an unknown child, Shay Butler’s quarterly is
approaching
but a silver-laced collar prevents her from shifting. As
her
time draws closer, her sanity begins to slip.
The opportunity to rescue Shay arrives when Magus enemy
Archimedes Atwood requests a parley to discuss ways to end
the conflict between their people and stop the rogue
hybrids. Alpha Bishop McQueen agrees, bringing his
brothers
together to form a plan that will bring Shay home to
Knight,
stop the final two hybrids—and finally bring Archimedes to
justice once and for all...
