The basis of this story begins in 1812, with the love story
of Angus and Eleanor. Eleanor was engaged to another man.
The night of their engagement ball, she was given the Mary
Stuart Sapphires as a betrothal gift. Later when Eleanor
met with Angus, the pair ran away together to the New World
and began their lives at the MacPherson Castle. The entire
property was created by Angus for Eleanor. Living with the
guilt of taking the sapphires, Eleanor uses the stone arch's
magical properties to hide the sapphires around the
property, so that they will be discovered and returned to
their rightful owners when the time is right.
Nell MacPherson is a single, successful author that is
constantly coming up with new ideas to create interesting
plots and storylines for her books. Nell's most recent
books tells the story of the jewels that have been missing
from her family for two hundred years. At the same time,
her two sisters each have found one of the sapphire earrings
from the Mary Stuart sapphires that Eleanor is wearing in
her wedding portrait hanging in the castle. Nell believes
that she must return to MacPherson castle, her childhood
home, and find the last piece, the necklace. Unfortunately,
the finding of the earrings has brought unwanted attention
to Nell and her sisters. When a letter is delivered to Nell
that states she has 48 hours or someone in her family will
die, the urge to find the necklace becomes something she can
no longer ignore.
Secret Service Agent Reid Sutherland is one of a set of
triplets. The brothers have known the MacPherson sisters
for many years. Both his brothers, who are also in law
enforcement are now dating the older two sisters. Growing
up Reid has always been a protector of sorts, especially to
Nell. After seeing their mother go through a rough time when
their father betrayed them, he does not want to set himself
up for the same. When he hears that Nell is in danger, his
need to protect her sets his plan in motion to be at her
side during this crisis.
Nell has always had strong feelings for Reid. Even going
back to her childhood, he wasn't seemed to be the hero in
one her books. However, Nell realizes that he is also not
affected by her. The pair can't keep their hands off each
other. The more Reid tried to ignore his feelings for Nell,
the more she is determined to get him to notice them. Even
if that means seducing him.
When someone takes a shot at them while they "linger" in the
castle gardens, the situation becomes a race to find the
necklace and who is not only watching their every move but
who is also ready to kill them.
I thoroughly enjoyed NO DESIRE DENIED. The plot is
interesting and
the mystery surrounding the sapphires makes it that much
more exciting too. There are two books prior to this one,
that are the older MacPherson sister's story. {see No Risk
Refused and No Holds Barred} However, this book can be read
as a stand alone as well. There is enough back story as to
what happened, to get what is going on, and not leave the
reader lost.
Sadly, author Cara Summers passed away in September, two
months prior to this books release, so this is her final
release. She will certainly be missed and her last works,
cherished by those who have had the opportunity to read
them.
Legend has it making out under the MacPherson Castle arch
guarantees you will find love. But author Nell MacPherson
has a better plan, which is fueling the plot of her next
book—tapping into the arch's magic to locate the last piece
of a missing family heirloom. And since every book needs a
sexy subplot, she'll save some of that magic for hot
one-on-one time with her childhood crush….
Secret Service agent Reid Sutherland is determined to
protect Nell from the recent threats aimed at her and her
family. Which means no fooling around. But damned if the
arch isn't doing its thing, because suddenly he and Nell
can't keep their hands off each other. With every touch and
late-night liaison, they're heading for big trouble…and this
time, Nell won't be able to write her way out of it!
