Lily Ann has been living in the past. Eleven years ago she
was the talk of the town. All for good reason, she was the
most poplar girl in the school and dating the star
quarterback Randy. They were in love, than 911 happened and
Randy enlisted and went off to fight.
Lily Ann gets the news that Randy was killed in combat. She
is beside her self and basically ends her own life as she
knew it.
Now eleven years later she is living in her family's home,
next door to her best friend Mike. Mike has been in love
with Lily Ann since they were kids. Lily Ann has never felt
that way about Mike.
Lily Ann hears a loud truck and at first thought that Randy
was back. T.J. is back in town to fix up and flip a home
that his uncle left to him. All the women in town are
attracted to T.J. including Lily Ann. Lily Ann decides it
is time to take back her life. First things first, she needs to drop all
the weight that she had gained since Randy's death.
Next head over to THE CURL UP AND DYE and get a
complete makeover. Enter Ruby, Mabel, Jean, Vera and Vesta,
who have been wanting to remake Lily Ann. They start out
by giving her a new hair style. Final step join a gym. The
one that
just happens to be owned by Mike.
Mike and Lily Ann have their time together, watching a movie
or just going out to get a bite to eat. T.J. starts to take
an
interest in Lily Ann once he notices that she is changing.
He tries several times to get her attention, but for some
reason Lily Ann just isn't interested in him any more. T.J.
is not use to being ignored by women and does not take
kindly to Lily Ann's reaction to him.
Mike has a accident, Lily Ann helps him out and realizes
that what she has been looking for is just across the yard.
Will these two old friends find the happiness that they both
have been looking for or will T.J. cause too many problems?
Sharon Sala's THE CURL UP AND DYE is a delight. Since
my mother used to work in a beauty shop, I can relate to the
way the girls took over the transformation of Lily Ann.
Sharon's story revolves around a small town where everyone
knows everyone, and there are not any secrets. The story of
Lily Ann drew me in from the beginning and right up until
the end I couldn't put THE CURL UP AND DYE down.
SUMMARY
Those were the best days of her
life... "Poor LilyAnn," the local ladies lament. "She sure is stuck
in the past." Eleven years ago, LilyAnn Bronte was the Peachy-Keen Queen
of Blessings, Georgia—the prettiest, smartest, and
most popular girl in town, going steady with the star
quarterback, a high school career on the fast track to
success. Then Randy Joe was killed in Iraq, and somehow
LilyAnn just let herself go to seed. Ruby, Mabel Jean, Vera, and Vesta of the Curl Up and Dye
have been itching to give LilyAnn a makeover, but she knows
it would make more than a new hairstyle for her to get her
life back. Until one fateful day, when a handsome stranger roars into
town, and LilyAnn has a revelation. Maybe the best is yet to come...
