Romance Paranormal
As a longtime fan of this series I was excited to get the
chance to read UNDEAD AND UNSURE by Mary Janice Davidson.
I am happy to say that once this book hooked me in it kept
me interested and has me eagerly awaiting the next
installment in this series. This book is not as action
packed as some of the previous books but it still kept this
reader's interest. It is full of the fun and sarcasm we are
used to with this series and seems to be setting things up
for future books.
Betsy has decided that a family get together is just what
she needs to help her make amends with Laura for killing the
Devil but Laura has other plans than making up. Suddenly
Sinclair is able to withstand sunlight and Jessica is still
pregnant and this is only the beginning of the chaos.
Once again Betsy tells us much of the story but we also are
treated to some of Sinclair's narration.
I enjoyed the parts told from Sinclair's point of view. I
love Betsy but sometimes it is nice to see things from
another person's perspective and especially one we hardly
hear from. Once again Betsy grows and learns in this book.
Sinclair has learned a lot as well and finds that he must
grow as well. Laura and Betsy are still trying to work out
their relationship as all siblings do theirs is just on a
much grander scale.
Some readers may feel a bit disappointed with the lack of
action in this book but I enjoyed the growth that all the
characters go through. Sometimes you need to take a step
back and give some depth to the characters. With this book
we find out just what makes certain people tick and how they
manipulate those around them. I was surprised at many of
the twists in UNDEAD AND UNSURE and wonder what is in store
for
Betsy and the gang in the next book.
UNDEAD AND UNSURE comes with a few twists and turns that I
did not
see coming but totally enjoyed. Even though this book is not
one of my favorite Betsy stories it is still a fun read.
SUMMARY
Vampire queen Betsy “don’t call me Elizabeth” Taylor is back
—and there’s going to be Hell to pay—in MaryJanice
Davidson’s “one of a kind” (Darque Reviews) New York Times
bestselling series… It’s no surprise to Betsy that her trip to Hell with her
sister Laura landed them in hot water. Betsy isn’t exactly
sorry she killed the Devil but it’s put Laura in a damnable
position: assuming the role of Satan (she may not have the
training but she looks great in red)—and in charge of
billions of souls as she moves up in the world. Or is that
down? But Betsy herself is in an odd new position as well—that of
being a responsible monarch suddenly in charge of all things
more earth-bound: like her vampire husband Sinclair who has
gone from relieved to ecstatic to downright reckless now
that he can tolerate sunlight. And if Sinclair isn’t enough
to contend with, Betsy’s best friend Jessica is in her sixth
(and hopefully last) trimester. Considering she’s been
pregnant for eighteen months, she’s become a veritable
encyclopedia of what not to expect when you’re expecting.
Oh, the horror… And speaking of growing pains, Betsy and Sinclair’s adopted
little BabyJon is finally starting to walk. And if the
increasingly unpredictable toddler is anything like his
extended family, precisely where he’s headed is anyone’s
guess.
