Jilted Maximillian Burke, the Lord Dravenwood, is running
from his old life, his family, society, and all of their
expectations. Max ends up in a decrepit manor on the cliffs
of Cornwall that had been acquired by his family for next to
nothing. The townspeople will not go near the manor,
fearing it is haunted by the White Lady of Cadgwyck.
Cadgwyck Manor is falling apart, helped along by lovely
scheming housekeeper Anne Spencer and her ragtag staff of
servants who do all they can to fuel the superstitions to
keep everyone out of their way. That includes their new
lord of the house, Max, who they find harder to uproot than
their previous masters. Max will stop at nothing to find
the truth of Cadgwyck Manor and it's beguiling mistresses,
the White Lady and the unflappable Mrs. Spencer.
The first chapter of THE TEMPTATION OF YOUR TOUCH makes me
strongly wish that I had read the book that had come before.
I almost put THE TEMPTATION OF YOUR TOUCH down until I
acquired The Pleasure Of Your Kiss. I'm glad I did not, the
rest of the book captures your attention just like the ghost
of Cadgwyck Manor enthralls her victims. Teresa Medeiros
writes with such flowing elegance. Her descriptions
transport me into her stories. I can just about believe I
am in Cadgwyck Manor beside Max, dripping wet from the rain,
peering into the gloom that no light can reach. Teresa
Medeiros slowly builds anticipation as she sprinkles
breadcrumbs along the way to revealing the truth behind the
White Lady of Cadgwyck. One can almost feel the heat of the
fire blooming between Max and Anne as they dance around each
other trying to reach their goals.
No one intertwines the historical and the magical like
Teresa Medeiros. That is why when I want a fantastical
historical romance I always come back to her.
A new enchanting historical romance from a “superb storyteller” (Booklist)
and New York Times bestselling author featuring a handsome, brooding
Earl who finds himself drawn to his prim and proper
housekeeper.Maximillian Burke has always prided himself on being the
man every mother would want her daughter to marry. But after his
scoundrel of a brother makes off with Max’s bride, Max discovers it’s more
satisfying to be a rogue than the perfect gentleman. Forced to flee London
after a duel gone wrong, he seeks refuge at Cadgwyck Manor on the lonely
coast of Cornwall, a place as wild and savage as his current temper. The
tumbledown manor comes complete with its own ghost but oddly enough,
it’s not the White Lady of Cadgwyck who haunts Max’s heated dreams—
but his no-nonsense housekeeper. The last thing housekeeper Anne
Spencer needs is a new master, especially one as brooding and gorgeous
as the Earl of Dravenwood. Even as she schemes to be rid of her new
employer, she finds herself irresistibly drawn into his strong, muscular
arms. When Max vows to solve the mystery of Cadgwyck’s ghost, he
doesn’t realize it will put both of their hearts at risk and tempt them to
surrender to a pleasure as delicious as it is dangerous.
