In BLOOD BEFORE SUNRISE, Darian is searching for the person
that
brutally betrayed her in the last book Sheades of Gray
someone she
once considered an ally. This quest begins to take over her
life as she
continuously puts herself in one dangerous situation after
another. She will
stop at nothing to find the truth and it is really beginning
to take a toll on her
relationships.
Darian and Ty's relationship is steamy yet strained in this
book. She
doesn't quite believe that he is capable of having her back
even though she
now knows the truth about him. This adds quite an
interesting dynamic on
their very layered relationship. Their bedroom sessions get
quite interesting
as well!
One of the relationships that I most enjoyed seeing develop
this time
around was the one between Darian and her trainer Raif. You
can easily
tell that they have a great affection for each other. I
really hope this is
explored more in future installments of the series.
There was an atmosphere of danger and intrigue throughout
the entire
story and it kept me turning the pages furiously. The urban
setting is so
much fun, but I loved the addition of the alternate
dimension as well. I hope
we get to see a lot more of that world next time around.
If you are looking for a supernatural story that isn't
purely populated by
vampires, than you'll want to give this one a try. It has
Shaedes, Oracles,
Gargoyles, and more!
Overall, I am hugely impressed by the world-building in this
series. It's so
exciting to see a new spin on urban fantasy that involves
new breeds of
supernatural creatures. I'm beyond excited for the next book
in this series.
It is quickly becoming one of my favorites! Can't wait to
read more from
Amanda Bonilla.
Having found the half-crazed Oracle who tried to overthrow
the Shaede Nation, Darian and Raif now face a possibility
too painful for Raif to imagine, and too enticing for
Darian to ignore. Determined to reunite Raif and the
daughter he thought was dead, Darian is willing to risk
everything—though she could lose her lover Tyler in the
bargain. Soon, Darian finds herself caught between the man
she loves like a brother, and the man whose love she can’t
live without.
